How does this work?

You call or send the form. We pass your request to an independent fence contractor who serves your area, and they contact you to set up a free visit and written quote.

Does it cost anything to ask for a quote?

No. The request and the on-site estimate are free, and you are under no obligation to hire anyone.

How much does a fence cost in Houston?

It depends on the material, height and length. Use the cost calculator for a ballpark; the contractor confirms the exact price after measuring.

Do I need a permit or HOA approval?

It depends on your city and neighborhood. Ask your contractor to check the rules for your address before work starts.

Can I do everything in Spanish?

Yes. Choose Spanish as your preferred language on the form and we will match you with a Spanish-speaking contractor when one is available in your area.

Do I need a permit for a fence in Houston?

Inside City of Houston limits, not for a fence of 8 feet or less unless it is masonry or concrete. Many suburbs do require one; see our permit guide for your city.

Should I repair or replace my fence?

Repair when the damage is limited to a few pickets, a gate or a couple of posts. Replace when many posts are failing or the repair quote approaches half the cost of a new fence.

Can a handyman fix my fence?

For a few pickets or a sagging gate, often yes; Houston handyman rates start around $45 per hour. For leaning posts in clay soil or whole sections, a fence specialist usually does a longer-lasting job.

Does my neighbor have to pay for half the fence?

Not in Texas, unless they agreed to. No state law makes neighbors share the cost of a fence on the property line, so get any agreement in writing.

Does homeowners insurance pay for a fence knocked down by a storm?

Often, if wind or a fallen tree caused it, but policies usually pay actual cash value minus depreciation and your deductible, so an older fence may get little. The Texas Department of Insurance says it is illegal for a contractor to offer to waive or pay your deductible.

Who actually does the work?

An independent local fence contractor. They give you the quote, do the work and are responsible for it. We are a referral service and may be paid by contractors for referrals.
